Is everyone hanging in there? Tapiche's COVID statement
Is everyone hanging in there?
Well, folks, here it is... Tapiche's COVID-19 statement:
We discovered yesterday 16 March that we will be unable to operate our ecotourism activities due to the government shutdown of transportation and strict imposition of quarantine policies. This means that operations at both the Green Track Hostel and Tapiche Reserve are suspended. The first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Iquitos was announced this morning (someone not affiliated with us in any way who works in tourism in Iquitos and had contact with an international traveler).
We humbly ask that everyone who had reservations for the Tapiche Reserve during this time consider rescheduling your trip rather than requesting a refund. We would be happy to work with you on choosing a date for a future trip as far as a year from your original Tapiche departure. As an organization that is dependent upon tourism income, being non-operational and losing significant funds during this time is greatly impacting our chances for survival. We know that people everywhere are suffering losses and hardship right now, and our hearts go out to everyone who has been affected. We are thankful for our wonderful friends and supporters who have already reached out to us, and we are confident that we can navigate this unprecedented challenge through mutual understanding and kindness as a global community.
Let us utilize this adversity to bring our focus to our strengths rather than the threats we face, to remind us to care for each other, and to remember that there is no greater gift than the life we've been given on our beautiful planet.
